Sr. Network Architect

Richland, WA

Our client needs someone who lives and breathes network engineering. They are a legacy research and development organization looking for a Sr. Network Architect who can anticipate what the future of cloud computing will bring, make a plan, and take us all along for the ride. The right person will be responsible for the next generation of network architecture at this facility.

The person in this role will be responsible for listening well and saying “yes, and” instead of “no.” Great communication skills and confidence in your knowledge and ability are a must for this role. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with other architects while ensuring development of and compliance to established system reference architectures, compliance to regulations, and security policies
  • Define standards and best practices 
  • Develop and maintain longterm strategy documentation — the roadmap to our future in network architecture
  • Provide technical leadership and direction in all areas of networking ranging from routing, switching, load balancing, wireless network, VoIP, VPN, MPLS, WAN strategy, IP management and addressing (i.e. DHCP, DNS, IPAM, etc.), cloud and virtual networking (VMware and NSX), and network security
  • Develop and maintain Enterprise level architecture design, configuration, and management systems for campus and Wide Area Network infrastructure
  • Function as an escalation point during major outages or critical downtime windows
  • Provide technical expertise in ensuring that the electronic communication is secure
  • Write procedures and documentation for processes to aid in troubleshooting and review

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A BS/BA with at least seven years of experience
  • A MS/MA with at least years of experience
  • A PhD with at least three years of experience
  • OR a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Cisco CCNP or equivalent certification
  • Experience with network architecture, design and administration using Cisco Nexus systems
  • At least six years of experience in enterprise network design and implementation
  • CCIE Certification
  • VXLAN overlay-network design and implementation
  • Experience with network automation tools (i.e. Ansible, NetConf, REST, etc.)
  • Experience managing and supporting F5 load balancers
  • Experience managing and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls, DNS Management and Infoblox System management and support
  • CWNP and/or CWNE Certifications
  • CCISP Certification
  • Experience building AWS and/or Azure software defined networks and designs
  • Exceptional communicator with both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems with innovative solutions
  • A focus on customer satisfaction and high-quality service delivery

  • This is a full-time position based in Richland OR Seattle, WA. Remote and hybrid work solutions will be considered for the right candidate.  

Salary

  • *The target salary for this role ranges from $165,000 to $185,000 per year.
